2015 Season Review
Novos Carnival – 21st November
The weather Gods took kindly to us and delivered a coolish day (about 21 degrees) compared to the 40 the day before.
The team assembled early and pretty soon all marquees, chairs, tables etc were in position well before the first event.
Congratulations and thanks to Mike, Rhonda, Wendy and all of our members for their contributions for a well run carnival which received plenty of pleasant comments. An anonymous facebook blogger wrote "A club full of cheerful and willing helpers who went out of their way to make sure everyone had a great day. Fitness, fun and friendship was the winner".
Novos finished first in the point score with 886 points and were 7th in the average point score. A number of our members elected to miss their events and put the efforts into assisting with matters pertaining to a successful meet.
Age winners were Emma, Lisa, Kay, Wendy, Adam and Bill. Runners up were Alana, Bronwen and Robin and Pres Mike was third in his age division.
Dr Bill again excelled with a new National record in the 400 fly in the 85-89 age division. No swimmer in this age division had previously attempted this event.
Congratulations Bill.
Lisa set an new club record in the 400 free with a time of 5.47.89 and the only other club record broken was in the mens 240+ relay with Garry, Michael H, David G and Mike C making up the team.
Our six relay teams finished with four firsts and two seconds.
At the end of the carnival Novos were still placed fourth in the Division 1 Branch Point.
Score with 4208 points behind the Sydney heavies Warringah, Ryde and Manly. The final placings for the year will not change.
Clary Munns from Blacktown set 3 NSW and National records in the W70 to 74 age in 200 and 50 breast and also 50 free.
On a special note we have 2 swimmers in the top 20 in “The most active swimmers for 2015”, which is Wendy Gordon on 505 points.
A number of Warringah members stayed over in Newcastle on the Saturday night and were joined by a few of our people for a pleasant dinner and catch up.
Port Macquarie – 7th November
We had 4 members attend, Wendy Gordon, Gary Hughes, Carl Wallace and Alan Moore.
Wendy placed first in her age group W60 to 64, with 40 points, Gary came in 4th in his M60 to 64 with 34 points.

Congratulations to our team Emma, Rhonda, Michelle H, Wendy, Robin and Bill.
New club records:- Emma 800 free (10.49.10) and 400 I/M (6.00.24). Rhonda 800 free (11.32.49) and 400 back (6.53.19). Michelle H 400 fly (6.39.89), 800 fly (13.55.27) and 1500 fly (26.30.48). Wendy 800 free (13.01.12), Robin 1500 breast (59.48.69) and Bill 800 free (26.45.83) and 400 back (11.25.88).
Robin's 1500 breast was a new State Record reducing the old record by more than 10 minutes.
Bill's two events (800 free and 400 back) were new State Records.
Michelle's 400 fly and 800 fly were both new NATIONAL RECORDS and her 1500 fly a State Record.
The 400 fly record and the 800 fly record were both set during the process of her completing her 1500 fly swim. The only reason her 1500 fly time is not a National Record is because 1500 fly is not in the records system for national events.
Michelle's 400 fly time broke the previous National Record by 21 seconds and her 800 fly time broke the previous National Record by 1 minute 30 seconds.
Her 1500 fly time broke the previous State Record by 7 minutes 50 seconds.
