NSW Annual General Meeting
At the recent NSW Annual General Meeting Bill Walker was announced as NSW Male swimmer of the year for 2014. This is the second time Bill has won this award (the first in 2004). This award comes a year after Novo member Ian Jeffery won the same award for 2013.
Novos club won the Division 1 average point score (at BPS carnivals) for 2014. Novos also won this award in 2013 and 2011. This award is determined by the toatal points at BPS carnivals divided by the club membership number.
The 2014 age group champions have also been announced. Novo winners were Emma (25-29 age division), Wendy (60-64), Robin (75-79) and Bill (85-89). Other placings went to Michelle Herms (2nd 50-54), Kay (3rd 55-59), Lesley (4th 55-59), David Goninan (4th 55-59) and Michael Hickerton (2nd 60-64).
Presentation Day – 9th February
A change of venue for our Presentation day saw us at the Redhead Bowling Club for an afternoon of bowls and a meal.
Judging on the quality of bowls not many of our members had been on the practice green since last year. It is worth noting that Maureen hit the kitty (that’s the little white ball) twice with successive bowls. Unfortunately it was the kitty of the group playing in the next rink.
After a meal at the clubs Chinese restaurant President Mike took control and proceeded with the clubs awards for 2014. Club Champion for 2014 was Wendy Gordon with Michael Hickerton runner up and Robin Carson third.
Other members to receive recognition for their efforts at swim meets and for aerobic results were Bill, Michelle H, David, Tracey, Kay, Alan and Mike C.
Bill was recognized for his achievements with his state and national records during 2014. Lesley took out the encouragement award and Lisa picked up the rookie of the year award.
Coach Adam handed out his awards. David got the Lane Shark award, Wendy the fashion swimwear award and the sole nominee for the Kim Kardashian award was rightfully awarded to Rhonda. Lesley won the bowls spider and Nick picked up the lucky door prize.
A great day and thanks to President Mike for his organizational skills.
