Masters swimming is only for middle-aged or old people.
You are eligible to join AUSSI masters swimming once you have passed your eighteenth birthday. There is no upper age limit. |

You have to be a good swimmer to join an AUSSI masters club.
Some swimmers have joined masters with a swimming background that goes back to their youth. Many have joined to discover, or rediscover, an enjoyment in swimming. Many have joined to improve their health and fitness. AUSSI masters clubs operate under the aims of “Fun, Fitness and Friendship”. The Novocastrian club that is based at the Coughlans Swim Centre offers all three in spades. |

Becoming a Masters swimmer will mean following a regime of hard training and heavy competition.
Master swimming clubs do offer coaching facilities including stroke-correction advice. Masters swimming clubs do offer regular opportunities for interclub, State and National competition events. Members freely choose to what extent they become involved in these activities. But be warned: many members have started with a single 50 metre freestyle swim at an interclub carnival and have found the experience to be so enjoyable that they have persisted with personal improvement and gone on to try other strokes and increasingly longer distances. They have been delighted with the gains in health and confidence. |
